Pastor Jesse Nicholson

Senior Pastor

Responsibilities at Community Baptist Church: Senior Pastor

Time at CBC: Since August of 2002

Training: BA in Bible from Bob Jones University; MA in Pastoral Studies from BJU

Experience: Summers of '97 and '98 traveling as an Evangelist with Neighborhood Bible Time; 2000-2002, Dean of Men's Office at Bob Jones University; 2002-2009, Youth and Outreach Pastor here at Community Baptist Church.

Hobbies: Watching and Playing Baseball (Softball), Hockey (played for 12 years as a kid in Minnesota), Tennis, reading missionary biographies, but I especially enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife Kasey and our four girls Julia, Lydia, Gloria and Brooke.

Why Ministry? I accepted the Lord as my Savior as an 8 year old after an AWANA meeting at my church.  When I was 16 I attended a camp meeting (Camp Chetek in Chetek, WI) where I heard a clear message from Matthew 9:36-38 on the need for more laborers.  I sensed the Spirit's urging and I surrendered that night to His call. From then on I have pursued God's will for my life.

Favorite Verse: Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it.    I Thessalonians 5:24

Pastor Nathan Armstrong

Assistant/Youth Pastor

Responsibilities at Community Baptist Church: Administration, Youth and Children's Ministries, Technology, Discipleship and Counseling

Time at CBC: 7 Years

Training: Bachelor of Arts in History, Bob Jones University (2002); Master of Arts in Bible, Bob Jones University (2004); Master of Divinity, Bob Jones University (2007)

Experience: Summer evangelist with NBT, Summer Intern at Bethel Baptist Church, Pastoral in Training at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Assistant/Youth Pastor here at Community Baptist Church.

Hobbies: Watching and playing Baseball, Basketball, Golf, reading theology and historical fiction, working on cars, and most of all spending time with my wife and family.

Why Ministry? I trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was 4-5 years old.  During my college years I felt called to the ministry.  I have always enjoyed working with teens and children.  After I graduated from seminary I had the opportunity to attend Cornerstone Baptist Church and participated in a pastoral mentoring program. The Lord has continued to impress on me the importance of discipling people for Christ.

Favorite Verse: "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." -- 1 John 5:3-4

Mr. Ron Porch

Minister of Music

Responsibilities at Community Baptist Church: Music Director

Time at CBC: Since June of 1986

Training: Bachelor of Science in Education, Northwest Missouri State University (1979); Master of Arts in Sacred Music, Bob Jones University (1981)

Experience: Music teacher at Salem Private School (1981-1986), music teacher at Community Christian School (1986-present), church music director (1981-present)

Hobbies: Reading, travel, cooking, camping.

Why Ministry?  I trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was 19 years old.   The person who led me to the Lord advised that I go to a Christian college for training in Christian music ministry after receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in education.    The Lord used the experience at a Christian college to guide me into serving Him in Christian education and church music ministry.

Favorite Verse: Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
